Bo Phoenix
Bo (they/them) is an Illustrator and multi-disciplinary visual artist based in Brighton and Shoreham.
Their work engages in conversations of race, gender and sexuality, exploring and dissecting the vast expanses of the human experience. They get inspired by lived experiences, animated movies and childhood nostalgia.
Their process is mix of traditional and digital styles, but they mainly work in gouache and colour pencil. The art they make ranges from colourful, whimsical things to darker, psychological and horror-based pieces.
They hope to share their experiences as a Black Mixed-race and non-binary Lesbian artist with whoever is interested to look.
They have exhibited artwork in ONCA gallery as part of collaborative exhibition The Black Living Archive (2022) and was commissioned illustrator for the Collections to Connections project (2024) with artist and poet Pauline Rutter. They were also a featured artist in Amore or Less (2024).
